I’m a Certified Keto-Adapted Health Coach. You can learn more about me from my website Happy Fat Mouth.
As the ketogenic diet continues to surge in popularity, its very success brings with it some loud criticism, and it especially brings paid-for criticism by huge industries who literally make a giant profit each year if you stay sick. It’s a sad state of affairs when you and I are literal walking signs for the pharmaceutical and “health care” industries. Same is true with big food. The sicker you stay, the more money they make. Do you understand that our system is designed to keep you down?
Now THAT paradigm is SICK!
I encourage readers to do your own research. The information you seek about what is truly a well-formulated ketogenic, healthy diet IS out there but unfortunately you have to wade through a ton of incorrect (and sometimes damaging) information to drill down to what is factual about good health. I have listed on my website’s resource page all of my favorite keto books, cookbooks and health books –nearly 50 books in all. I’ve spent 20 years educating myself about health and nutrition because I have this one body and this one life and it’s crucial for me to know the facts about nutrition.
I have gone from being bed-ridden to planning 52 mountain hikes this year because my knowledge of nutrition healed me. If you don’t have time to do a deep research dive, you can always hire someone like me — I am a Keto-Adapted Coach — to walk your way through proper nutrition as that does lead you back to good health.
I wanted to write about all the things that keto has taken from me as a real life example of what good nutrition can do for you. Sit back grab some good quality coffee because it’s a long list.
The ketogenic diet has taken from me:
- acid reflux
- irritable bowel syndrome
- adrenal fatigue
- high liver enzymes
- high blood pressure
- pre-diabetes status (current A1c is 5.3)
- 30 unwanted pounds
- inches from my chest, waist, hips and thighs
- 9 elevated inflammation markers (all now in the optimal range)
- my excessively low Vit. D
- high glucose readings
- my easily irritated temper
- road rage
- brain fog
- my hair falling out
- toenails falling off
- night sweats
- no energy
- ataxis (I walked in to walls)
- lack of laughter
- lack of get up and go
- hangry attacks/hypoglycemia
- stress and worry
While taking away all of these unwanted things, keto has given me so very much, including:
- incredible energy
- internal sense of peace and security
- ability to handle the ups and downs that comes with being alive
- no hunger pains
- stable mood and stable blood pressure
- all inflammatory markers in optimal range
- tons of laughter and joy
- no brain fog
- ultra deep sleep
- freedom to do everything I want to do each day
- extreme optimism
- boosted me into the 12% of metabolically healthy adults
- no needless worry that my body will turn on me
- no spending $$ on useless yearly tests
- learning how to trust my own body wisdom
- having the energy to now help others on the healing journey
As you can see, the low cab/high fat/no sugar/no grain lifestyle has been very, very good to me. It can do these things for you, too. Perhaps you need to tweak something here or there but you can feel so much better than you do today if you are in that “exhausted American” category. Most likely you are as 88% of Americans are not metabolically fit.
Is it time to give healthy keto a try in your life? What are you waiting for?
